Cafe Declieu.com Cafe De Clieu, an eponymous name for a restaurant concept featuring coffee and all that it involves and more. An ornate design reflecting the time of Monsieur De Clieu. Gabriel De Clieu: the man who brought coffee to the new world. Apocryphal, or not, this little known figure born in Dieppe, France in the late 17th century, as a naval officer brought coffee seedlings to the island of Martinique in approx 1723. Fifty years later the Latin American coffee plantation system was born with Brazil, now the world's largest producer of coffee. The crest design employs an ornate frame along with two illustrations. The bottom being ripened coffee berries with their rich cherry color. The above pays tribute to Kaldi, an Ethiopian goat herder who discovered his "dancing goats" after feasting on some coffee berries. Again, the story about Kaldi may be apocryphal but, nonetheless it's joyful and entertaining.
